Welcome CEL faculty to the Community-Engaged Learning Professional Development Initiative! Now that you've offered CEL as an academic component in your courses for one or more semesters, here is an opportunity to strengthen your CEL practice and learn new skills. Through readings and reflection, you can dig deeper into community partnerships, engaged scholarship, cultural competency, reflection, assignments, and assessment. This initiative was developed through the research and contributions of the Community-Engaged Learning Advisory Board.
All CEL faculty interested in a CEL Stipend (up to $800) are required to participate in professional development. This initiative enables experienced faculty to independently pursue their own learning and growth using a self-assessment tool and a toolkit of resources provided on this website, and then share that learning with a "community of practice" - other CEL faculty at Fisher.
The steps are:
Step #1: Take the CEL Self-Assessment Tool found on the Self-Assessment Tool tab of the website:
http://sjfccommunityengagedlearning.weebly.com/self-assessment-tool.html
Step #2: In-line with the growth interests identified on the Tool, read/watch a minimum of TWO resources found on the CEL Scholarship tab of the website:
http://sjfccommunityengagedlearning.weebly.com/cel-scholarship.html
Step #3: Submit a written or video reflections on the Submission tab of the website (3 questions):
http://sjfccommunityengagedlearning.weebly.com/submission.html
- AND/OR attend the in person CEL Dialogue and share your reflections verbally, to be scheduled at the end of the semester.
This is a pilot of sorts, so please feel free to be forthright in your feedback, and let me know if you have questions.
